As Seafair weekend approaches, so too will temperatures approach low 90’s all week. However, Blue Angels, Hydroplanes, weather and BBQs aren’t the only things heating up in Seattle. In addition to a variety of multifamily units under construction, single family homes in Seattle are selling faster than some moving companies can keep up.
Larry Nelson, of Hansen Brothers Moving & Storage, says that summer 2015 is already becoming his busiest year ever…Big deal for a company that has been around since 1890. In fact, it’s so busy that he is even urging clients to postpone their moves until the Fall if possible.
We also came across this article in the WSJ that talked about a wave of Silicon Valley-ins (ites?) moving north to Seattle. With weather like it is now, a growing tech industry, and luxury homes at a fraction of the price, it’s no wonder Seattle homes are selling fast. The article also has great shots of downtown and some of the homes surrounding it.
Obviously it’s difficult to gauge (both completely and accurately) everything happening in the housing market, but we were impressed by this rough Zillow test. Here’s how to do it:
- Go to Zillow.com
- Type a neighborhood in Seattle; (we chose Laurelhurst)
- Make sure to check the boxes: ‘For Sale’, ‘Recently Sold’, ‘in Last 12 Months’
